Thanks for your interest in our 2026 San Diego HS Mission Trip! Here is some info about the trip:

Who: LOC HS Youth (grades 9-12) + Awesome Adult Leaders

When (approximately): July 19-24, 2026

Where: San Diego, CA

What: A trip for HS youth who want to grow in their faith, serve and learn together! We will serve 4 of the days and also have time for fellowship, worship and sightseeing. Every trip is an amazing experience and we strongly believe it'll be life-changing for all those who attend!

Max # of Youth Participants: We are planning to take up to 35 youth. If we have more than 35 interested, we'll talk about options. In the beginning, the trip will be open to LOC youth and those who have attended in past. After 12/24, if there are still spaces open, we will consider opening it up to friends. Kirsten Kelly will be the staff leader.

Registration Deadline: Wed, 12/24/25 - Pay the $100 deposit to "LOC Youth" (more info below) and complete this form to secure your spot.

We expect this trip to fill quickly, so spaces will be reserved in the order that they come in (once both the form and deposit are received).

Cost per Youth: Approximately $1,200 - depends on our participant numbers and airfare/van rental costs.

Adult Leaders: Must be 21 years or older, be willing to help with fundraising efforts and attend fellowship events (as able), lead a small group of youth in discussion (along with other leadership areas on the trip) and be willing to have a multi-state background check conducted. Preference will be given to adults who have had experience with youth in past (on a previous trip, as a Guide, etc) and those who are young adults. We will strive to have a 1:6 adult to youth ratio and will have at least 1 leader of each gender.

Payment

A $100 non-refundable deposit is required for each youth participant (not adults) before their registration is complete. Reminder: Your space for the trip will NOT BE HELD until you have paid your $100 deposit or made other financial arrangements with Kirsten! We expect this trip to fill quickly, so spaces will be reserved in the order that they come in (once both the form and deposit are received).

Payments can be made online or via check to "LOC Youth". Click here to pay online (under the "Summer 2026 Youth Trip Payment" designation). Credit card payments have a small processing fee. 

We will ask for an additional payment once we are ready to book airfare (since we will not have enough money in the Youth Account to cover the cost of airfare and will need to book tickets before our March 15th fundraiser).

Please talk with Kirsten if you need to discuss scholarship options. If an unavoidable event causes the need to cancel (such as an illness or family funeral), we will discuss options at that time. A refund will only be given if the money has not already been spent on expenses.

Deposits will be refunded if the trip fills and we are not able to add additional spots.

Media Release

Do you grant Light of Christ Lutheran Church the right to take photographs in connection with this trip? Do you authorize Light of Christ Lutheran Church to use such photographs for any lawful purpose, including, for example, appearing in print or online promoting Light of Christ's activities, promotional brochures, worship presentations, or Light of Christ's Facebook page? I further understand that if I give my permission, my child's name will not be used to identify my child. My permission will be kept on file in the church office (yearly), and if I would like to withdraw my permission, I may do so by contacting the church office.

Liability Release

I/we hereby release Light of Christ Lutheran Church, its employees, agents and volunteers, from any and all liability, claims, demands, causes of action and possible causes of action whatsoever arising out of or related to any loss, damage or injury (including death) that may be sustained by my child or myself (name listed in this form) while participating in this trip and/or traveling to and from an event at Light of Christ.

I/we understand that personal injury or illness can and may occur to my child while in attendance at church sponsored events and I hereby authorize a representative of Light of Christ Lutheran Church to seek and consent to emergency medical treatment, dental care, surgery or hospitalization for my child as needed during the period of my/our absence; and I further agree to be liable for and to pay all costs incurred in connection with such medical/dental attention.
